Where do you find the Planetary Learning Path in Marburg?

The starting point of our planetary learning path at the model of the sun is west of Cappel between the City Autobahn and the Lahn near the dog training ground by Uferdamm. It can be reached, for example with bus line 2 from the Main Train Station. Ride to the bus stop “Am Zuckerberg” in Cappel and then follow the signs to the Lahn meadow!

The display case next to the sun lists an oversight of the most important information. From there, the paved field path leads to the inner planets of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars and then further to Jupiter and Saturn near the City
Utilities. Follow the bike path under a bridge to the street “Am Krekel” past the South Train Station and furth to Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke, behind which is Uranus. From here onward, it’s another 1.6 km to the university cafeteria by Erlenrigh where the Neptune station is. It was here that the Carl Strehl School built a third display case and submitted it to the City of Marburg as a gift. Pluto, the finale of the Learning Path, is behind the Elisabeth Bridge near the Main Train Station.

The Distance between the sun and Pluto is about 6 km. The scale used was chosen at 1 : 1,000,000,000 (1 billion) for the distance and the sizes of the planets; the actual distance of Pluto to the sun is 5,946 million km!

In the first one and a half kilometers of the learning path in the Lahn meadows near Cappel, clear conditions are necessary for seeing the other planets from Earth, in the model corresponding to the fact that the so-called inner planets next to the sun as well as Jupiter and Saturn are visible with the naked eye from the earth.
